Sikh Community Connections (SCC) organised their 5th annual Jean Hailes Women’s Health Week on 10th Sep 2023. The event was organised in collaboration with Diet Yumm.

The annual health event, led by national not-for-profit Jean Hailes for Women’s Health, aims to increase awareness and education of women’s health topics including pelvic pain, endometriosis and menopause, and encourage community participation in health checks and screenings. This year’s theme, ‘Grow your knowledge’ aims to make women’s health information easier to understand.

This year SCC had an incredible and insightful 5th continuing year of Women’ Health Week. The event took place at Ganbu Gulinj Community Centre in Wollert.
Gurinder Kaur, President of Sikh Community Connections welcomed all the guests and introduced about Jean Hailes initiative and three speakers of the session.

Women’s Health Week provides women with an opportunity to put themselves first and discover the latest news in women’s health.

“It encourages women to come together, talk, and realise that they are not alone,” she says.

Our First speaker Tafy Seade, Senior physiotherapist from Inner Active Pelvic Physiotherapy, who addressed the importance of a good foundation in exercises.
Another facilitator Manvi did an Art Therapy to focus on Mindfulness in the form of art activity was an integral part of the session. The core of this session was that ‘All you need is within you‘.
Our third speaker Purva Gulyani, a practicing dietitian and the founder of Diet Yumm, delved into three critical aspects that affect every woman’s well-being.

  • Importance of regular screenings and preventive healthcare measures.
  • 5 Most Important Nutrients women need for optimal health

The event was attended by people from multicultural communities. There were lights snacks and tea served at the end of the event and show bags containing health information and COVID-Safety kits were distributed to all the attendees.
