MISSION & VISION

The Sikh Community Connections is a grassroots community-based organization that helps create healthy, violence-free, more equitable communities by bridging gaps in access to public resources and social services, and providing education and direct support to community members using an empowerment approach that attends to cultural tradition, migration experiences, language access and to advancing the Sikh faith in Australia..

To this end, SCC partners with broad network of volunteers, faith-based institutions, nonprofit & government agencies within and outside the Sikh community to facilitate:

  • Advance religion by promoting the teachings, values, and principles of Sikhism; organising and conducting religious gatherings, prayers, and Gurbani Kirtan; and encouraging the practice of Sikh faith in daily life.

  • Bridge gaps in access to public resources and social services by providing culturally informed education, advocacy, and direct support, addressing the needs of community members with respect to cultural traditions, migration experiences, and language access.

  • Promote, preserve, and share the rich Sikh musical heritage—including the spiritual tradition of Gurmat Sangeet—through the teaching of traditional Sikh string instruments and by collaborating with other cultural and interfaith groups at festivals and events.

  • Increase understanding of Sikh culture, beliefs, and heritage through major community events, religious observances, workshops such as Try a Turban, and by offering shared community meals (langar) at public gatherings.

  • Support Punjabi language learning and deliver programs that enhance cultural connection, spiritual development, wellbeing, and community participation.
